Vice Prime Minister of Georgia, Minister of Education and Science of Georgia Aleksandre Jejelava talked about amendments to the Law on Development of Education Quality at the Government Meeting that will enhance the image of the higher education institutions as well as the quality of internationalization of employment of the graduates.
According to the amendment, the foreign leading agencies will be able to accredit the programs of the higher educational institutions, which will significantly enhance the quality of higher education in the country.
For the purpose of effective performance of the accreditation process, the accredited 1150 programs will gradually pass reaccreditation. According to the amendments, the institutions will be able to add vocational and higher education programs at any time of the year, as well as the planned and unplanned inspection procedure of authorized institutions is improving. The procedure of enrollment of the Georgian citizens on the joint program is also changed. According to the amendments, any person will be given an opportunity of recognition of the learning outcomes achieved within one of the qualifications for the purposes of other qualifications.
With the initiated amendments, the regulations were clearly defined regarding illegal educational activity by unauthorized institutions in the territory of Georgia. In addition, the higher educational institutions will also have an opportunity to accredit their own programs in leading quality assurance agencies abroad.
For the purpose to facilitate introduction of new standards of authorization of the higher educational institutions, the term of authorization will be prolonged for the period of one year for higher educational institutions.
