The exhibition “The Knight in Tiger’s Skin and Rustaveli” was held at Ivane Javakhishvili Tbilisi State University. Unique handwritten manuscripts, publications and illustrations of “The Knight in the Tiger’s Skin”, all editions of landmark importance of “The Knight in the Tiger’s Skin”, preserved in the funds of the TSU Library and Korneli Kekelidze National Center of Georgian Manuscripts were displayed at the exhibition. Among them there was the first edition of “The Knight in the Tiger’s Skin” of 1712 by Vakhtang and the edition of 1888 by “Kartvelishvili”. The visitors were also able to view the recent editions translated in the languages of the world people (French, German, Armenian, Azerbaijani, Turkish, Ukrainian, Moldovan, Persian, Arabic, Chechen, Latvian, Ossetian and other languages). Among them, the Korean translation of “The Knight in the Tiger’s Skin” should be noted, which was first translated in 2016 and was handed over to the Tbilisi State University Library by the Korean Ambassador.

The National Center of Manuscripts presented the originals of the illustrations of “The Knight in the Tiger’s Skin” performed by Hungarian artist - Mihály Zichy, the originals of so called “live photos” shot prior to creation of the illustrations of “The Knight in the Tiger’s Skin” by Zichy (the scenes of “The Knight in the Tiger’s Skin”), which were shot by the artist in Tbilisi and Kutaisi. The distinguished Georgians of the 80s of the XIX century are on the photos.

The expertly executed copies of the manuscripts of Rustaveli epoch were provided along with the copies of the unique lists of “The Knight in the Tiger’s Skin”: the manuscripts written in the Georgian Monastery of Romana (Constantinople) – “Vani Gospel” made by personal order of King Tamar, which was the personal belongings of Tamar and the Astrological Treaty (1188 -1210).
