The next meeting of the Rectors’ Council was held at Ivane Javakhishvili Tbilisi State University. Vice Prime Minister of Georgia, Minister of Education and Science Aleksandre Jejelava opened the meeting and talked about several important issues, including the necessity of use of more modern technologies in the teaching / learning process in universities and suggestion of short-term learning program to the interested people for free.
One of the important issues, presented at the meeting, was the presentation of Tamar Sanikidze, the Director of the National Center for Quality Development, on renewed procedures of authorization and renewed standards of authorization of higher education institutions.
A manual created by foreign experts will become available in the process of introduction of new standards. Each phase of the experts’ activities, principles of homogeneous and consistent assessment will be described in details with the specific examples provided in it. The group of experts will prepare the interpretation, recommendations and self-assessment guidelines, including ENQA publication on internal quality control. The international expert and key documents will be included in the process of assessment of the educational programs and will be prepared in two languages, correspondingly.
As for the higher education institutions experts, the candidates were selected through the competition, according to the competencies corresponding to the updated standards. The experts’ corps consists of higher, vocational, general education and accreditation experts, including the students and employment market experts. Their training and attestation is already scheduled.
