By organization of the National Assessment and Examinations Center (NAEC), a two-day conference – “State and International Assessment: Main Education Challenges for School Education” is held.
The goal of the conference is to inform the public and education policy-makers about the situation in the education and teaching of mathematics and natural sciences in the Georgian school system, as well as to initiate a broad dialogue in order to enhance the quality of education and to provide equal opportunities for learning. The results of state and international assessments in mathematics and natural sciences will be presented at the conference.
The first day of the conference was dedicated to presentation of the main findings of the state and international assessment (achievements of pupils and education policy) and discussions on the effective measures for promotion of improvement of the achievement of pupils and enhancement of the quality of school education in general is planned on the next day (what should be changed and how?).
The conference is held with the support of the Ministry of Education and Science, “Millennium Challenge Account - Georgia” (MCA) and Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC). The representatives of the education system and international organizations, experts, government and parliament members participate in the conference.
Countries use the outcomes of state and international researches to evaluate the situation in school education. The state assessment is oriented to the study of a national-wide image, and international researches provide an opportunity of assessment of the outcomes of the country in the global context. International and state assessments are held regularly in Georgia by the National Assessment and Examinations Center (NAEC).
