Solemn Ceremony of New Academic Year at San Diego University

The San Diego State University celebrated the beginning of a new academic year. The event was attended by the Vice Prime Minister of Georgia, Minister of Education and Science Aleksandre Jejelava, US Ambassador to Georgia Ian Kelly, Regional Vice President of Millennium Challenge Corporation Fatima Sumar and Magda Magradze, CEO of Millennium Challenge Account. Rector of San Diego State University, Dr. Chukuka Enwemeka and delegation of Professors visited this event specially for this ceremony.

In 2017, SDSU accepted more than 200 students into Bachelor programs in Georgia. The 3rd cohort, as usual is successful and diverse. Winners of international and local scientific Olympiad and students with the highest points at national exams are among them. There are also more than 20 international students from 8 different countries and exchange students from SDSU California campus. 

More than 40% of the students of the San Diego State University, from the first or second courses take part in internships and employment programs. They are authors of interesting innovative projects. Some of them, in their own field, already work as leading specialist and contribute to the development of the country. American professors and local academic personnel who have passed multi-week software training at San Diego California Campus are teaching at the University.

This program is distinguished with special educational and scientific infrastructure. 5,000 square meters of study area, laboratories are rehabilitated; a new academic building is being built; whereas the study-scientific laboratories do not have analogy in our region.

San Diego State University (SDSU) is university. It is one of the biggest and the most popular universities in California with 35,000 students and $130 Million budget for research. San Diego State University, through funding from the second compact of Millennium Challenge Corporation of the U.S. Government (MCC),  offers internationally accredited Bachelor programs of high quality (ABET, ACS, WASC)  in the fields of  technology and engineering (STEM) in Georgia. The graduates will receive an American degree. These programs offered by the university will support the development of construction, natural sciences and technology fields along with preparation of high-qualified capacity in the country.
