The winner of Teacher's National Award was of 2017 became a teacher of public school of village Chibati in Lanchkhuti Municipality Vladimir Apkhazava. He received 10 000 GEL from General Sponsor - Ina Gudavadze-Patarkatsishvili as a cash prize. At the award ceremony, the remaining 4 participants, who passed to the final stage were awarded.
Finalists of the Teacher’s National Award:
1.Eka Tsulukidze - Teacher of Georgian Language and Literature of public school of the village Pari in Mestia Municipality.
2. Natia Purtseladze - Teacher of Georgian Language and Literature of private school "Korali" in Tbilisi.
3.Nino Abuladze - Teacher of History of N 43 Public School in Tbilisi.
4.Vladimer Apkhazava - Teacher of Civic Education / Special Teacher in public school of village Chibati in Lanchkhuti Municipality.
5.Tea Nonikashvili - teacher of biology / natural science in public school of village Khidistavi in Gori municipality.
"Teachers' National Award" was established on May 13, 2017, on the basis of a memorandum signed between the Coalition "Education For All - Georgia", Teacher Professional Development Center and Ministry of Education and Science. This initiative is being implemented in Georgia for the first time and is part of the global campaign - "The Global Teacher Prize" aimed at promotion of teachers.
On May 31, 2017, the award contest was announced, where 114 teachers were involved. The jury composed of representatives of educational and cultural spheres and public selected 10 semi-finalists and five finalists.
