The issue of funding of the affected students living in the villages adjacent to the demarcation line of the occupied territories was discussed at the Government meeting. It was decided that the Ministry of Education and Science will fund teaching of the students in 2017-2018 years.
According to the Minister of Education and Science Mikheil Chkhenkeli, the aim of the Government is to promote and financially support the students both for study in Georgia as well as for participation in exchange programs abroad.
The target group will include those students, whose families were materially affected by the Russian occupation forces, due to changing the occupational line and making wire railing and other barriers, as well as the students, studying at Bachelor’s or certified doctor / dentist or Master’s accredited higher educational programs.
In 2013 the Ministry of Education and Science funded 471 students, in 2014 - 568 students, in 2015 - 736 students, in 2016 - 905 students, whereas this year the Ministry will fund more than 1000 students.
