Today, Vice Prime Minister, Minister of Internal Affairs Giorgi Gakharia and Minister of Education and Science, Mikheil Chkhenkeli held a working meeting regarding the tragedy occurred on Khorava Street.
At the meeting, the Ministers discussed the tragic incident occurred on Khorava Street on December 1, 2017 and discussed the need to enhance cooperation between the Ministry of Internal Affairs and the Ministry of Education and Science to prevent crime in the future. Particular attention was paid to strengthening the role of security measures and resource officers in the educational institutions, as well as the prospects for cooperation between the Office of Resource Officers and Law Enforcement Agencies. Ministers agreed that the Inter-Agency Task Force, which will develop a specific plan for crime prevention, will fully coordinate the process. The main goal of the group will be activation of prevention, educational and information activities, protection of public order and school discipline, promotion of campaigns against violence. The working group will also work on the effectiveness of access to psychological and other services for juveniles and elaboration of conflicts prevention mechanisms.
Representatives of state agencies, non-governmental organizations and international organizations working in the field of juvenile justice will be actively involved in the activities of the working group. At the meeting it was also decided that at the initial stage, the patrol police will be involved in the security monitoring in schools.
