Preparing for 2010 International Olympiads Has Begun

Following schedule is provided for the first selection rounds for international Olympiads in mathematics and physics that will be held at Tbilisi public school №98: the first and the second rounds in physics and mathematics will be held on May 1and 2, third and the fourth rounds – on May 12 and 13.

Georgia will represent delegations in 2010 international Olympiads in following three disciplines:


  •  41st International Physics Olympiad, IPHO 2010 (Croatia, Zagreb, July 17-25). The number of team members is 5.
  • 51st international mathematic Olympiad IMO 2010 (Kazakhstan, Astana, July 2-14). The number of team members is 6.
  • 22nd international Olympiad in informatics, IOI 2010  (Canada, Waterloo, August 14-21). The number of team members is 4.

National Science Foundation will carry out the National team member selection for international Olympiads.

 The schoolchildren registration for selection rounds in all subjects will start at 9:00 o’clock. Locations are the same where the rounds will be held. All schoolchildren should have birth certificates or certificates.

Georgian observer will leave for Korea (Changwon) to observe an international Olympiad in biology for the first time this year.

In 2009, our schoolchildren received:

  • 3 silver and 2 bronze medals at 50th international mathematics Olympiad;
  • 1 bronze medal at 40th international physics Olympiad;
  • 1 silver and 3 bronze medals at 21st international informatics Olympiad.

The Ministry of Education and Science of Georgia pays great attention on educational Olympiads. Olympiads support to identify talented and successful schoolchildren. After identification, the winners are encouraged. These events increase the motivation among the schoolchildren and develop appropriate abilities.
