Convicts have the opportunity to master a vocation
21.03.2018

First Deputy Minister of Education and Science of Georgia - Ketevan Natriashvili and Deputy Minister of Corrections and Probation - Zviad Mikhanashvili signed a memorandum that will carry out joint programs for rehabilitation and re-socialization of convicts. Namely, convicts placed in penitentiary establishments will still have the opportunity to master their chosen vocation and receive employment after serving their respective sentences.

The vocational retraining of Georgian convicts has been available since 2014, and in the course of four years, 2582 convicts have completed approximately 41 short-term vocational courses. The demand increases annually, and the Ministry of Education and Science tries to accommodate the increasing demand for retraining modules. The program supports the convicts to reintegrate into the society, whilst providing various, affordable courses.
