The Minister of Education and Science of Georgia - Mikheil Chkhenkeli and the Minister of Education of Portugal - Tiago Brandão Rodrigues discussed future cooperation between the two countries. During the bilateral meeting, the ministers mainly focused on the topic of vocational education, and prearranged a close cooperation in this particular field. The sides agreed to develop a memorandum of cooperation, which will deepen the cooperation between Georgia and Portugal in terms of education.
Mikheil Chkhenkeli offered his Portuguese colleague to jointly develop student exchange programs in vocational education, thus allowing Georgian students to visit Portuguese schools and enhancing the knowledge of the field. In addition, similarly, Georgian colleges will host Portuguese students.
Furthermore, the meeting of Georgian and Finnish ministers of Education was held in Lisbon, on the Education Ministerial, organized by the Government of Portugal, where a number of Education ministers, leaders of various Teacher Unions, and educational experts participate from around the world. Together with the president of Teachers and Scientists Union of Georgia – Maya Kobakhidze, the co-Founder of the Georgian School Administrators Association – Archil Sumbadze, attended the event from the Georgian delegation.
