The World is celebrating the information dissemination day about Autism

Today the world celebrates the global day of information dissemination on Autism. Since 2010, April 2, Georgia also celebrates this unique day. For this special day, students of Tbilisi Public school №72 with autistic spectrum violation have prepared a special program together with their peers. The Deputy Minister of Education and Science of Georgia – Lia Gigauri attended the presentation. 
Since 2013, the Ministry of Education and Science of Georgia implements a special program, under which, Georgian public schools, in case of necessity, open specially integrated classes, where students with autistic spectrum violation have the capability to receive quality education. One such class is currently functioning at Tbilisi Public school №72.

The aim of the program is to ensure the adequate provision of education to the students with sensitive hearing problems, medium and heavy autism spectrum violations, and to the ones with long-term chronic illnesses.

 Integrated classes are equipped with appropriate inventory, visual aids and supporting educational resources. The aforementioned integrated classes are currently functioning in eight public schools of Georgia, and employees a psychologist, special teacher and a subject teacher who work both individually and in groups to improve the academic and functional skills of the students, whilst promoting their healthy integration into the society.
