On the National Georgian Language day, a ceremony of awarding the school students as well as the foreign nationals for the promotion of the Georgian language was held at Ivane Javakhishvili Tbilisi State University. The event was held under the program - “Take care of your native language”.
40 schools participated in the competition throughout Georgia. The students wrote the essay on "Why Should We Care for our Own Language", in conjunction with schools organizing events dedicated to the Georgian language. The contest jury identified 20 winners.
The winners and participants were awarded with various prizes from the Tbilisi State University, Ministry of Education and Science of Georgia, State Language Department and TBC Bank.
By the decision of the Competition Organizing Committee, the winning essays will be published in the special competition compilation, which will be released in September 2018 to mark the European Day of Languages.
Competition was dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the establishment of the Tbilisi State University.
Citizens of Georgia and foreign countries were awarded for their contribution to teaching and promoting Georgian language.
