Within the scope of the "Europe Day 2018", the National Center for Teacher Professional Development opened a seminar - "Teacher-a guide to Europe". About 100 teachers from the regions of Georgia and its capital are involved in the seminar, including teachers from ethnic minorities and villages located along the occupation line. Participants of the seminar will receive information regarding the Georgia and EU relations within two days, in conjunction with the European integration process and European core values.

The Vice Prime Minister, the Minister of Foreign Affairs – Mikheil Janelidze and the Minister of Education and Science of Georgia – Mikheil Chkhenkeli opened the seminar. Participants were also welcomed by Nino Bolkvadze - Director of Information Center on NATO and European Union, Director of National Center for Teacher Professional Development - Giorgi Machabeli, and other representatives of international organizations.

The project "Information Center on NATO and EU" is organized by the National Center for Teacher Professional Development and is supported by the Friedrich Ebert Foundation for the fifth year in a row. The project envisages various activities for teachers throughout the year in order to popularize European core values. At the opening of the seminar, the author of the best projects was awarded with the teacher’s award ceremony. The winners will leave for Estonia towards the end of the month with the support of the Eastern Partnership Estonian Center.

Europe Day 2018 begins on May 5 until May 22. The goal of the Europe day is to inform the citizens of Georgia regarding the EU and Georgian relations, the ongoing integration process and to increase the involvement of various target groups.
