According to Mikheil Chkhenkeli, school sports projects will become even more diverse

The Minister of Education and Science of Georgia - Mikheil Chkhenkeli stated, that the initiative of the Prime Minister of Georgia, is to increase the number of people involved in sports activities, in order to establish a healthy lifestyle. The plan to increase people involved in sports activities will become one of the major priorities of the Ministry.

According to the minister, a full and harmonious child upbringing involves the development of their theoretical and intellectual skills, in conjunction with improving their physical skills. Therefore, it is significant to promote healthy lifestyle amongst the youth, to establish a healthy generation.

Minister thinks that an active cooperation between the Ministry of Education and Science and  Ministry of Culture and Sports is important in this regard. A large-scale campaign has already begun, where all students will be able to participate and show off their skills. 
Moreover, the funding of the sports events is doubled. The school sport Olympiads will be held regularly at the national level, which will be fully organized by the Ministry of Education and Science of Georgia. More than 1700 public schools of Georgia, involving more than 100,000 students of different age will be involved in mass physical and sport activities. With more than 8000 competitions, students will demonstrate their physical skills, consequently leading to the international school sports Olympiads abroad.

Nine types of sports and physical competitions will be organized at the municipal, regional and zonal level, including mini football (futsal), basketball, volleyball, handball, badminton, table tennis and general athletics.

With the support of the Ministry of Education and Science of Georgia and sports organizations, sports and entertainment activities will be full of hiking and excursions tours that will be successfully implemented and continuously held for teachers, students and parents alike.
