Mikheil Chkhenkeli held a meeting with the Minister of Education of Israel – Naftali Bennet

Whilst paying an official visit to Israel, the Minister of Education and Science of Georgia - Mikheil Chkhenkeli met with the Minister of Education of Israel - Naftali Bennett. The Minister congratulated the Minister with the jubilee of 70th anniversary since the creation of the State of Israel. The sides discussed the issue of enhancing the existing of cooperation between the two countries in the field of education and particularly in science.

Mikheil Chkhenkeli has informed the colleague about the current and planned science projects in Georgia. The introduction of young teachers to the educational system strategy was amongst the first topic to be emphasized during the discussion. The Israeli minister noted that youth organizations that are actively engaged in school life especially in informal education, play in important role in the development of the education system. 

Moreover, the ministers talked about moving forward to a more close cooperation in terms of higher education. It needs to be noted, that in this regard, negotiations have started with Bar-Ilan University, enabling scientists and researchers from both countries to conduct joint projects.

Naftali Bennet underlined the centuries-old friendship between Georgia and Israel and stressed that enhancing the cooperation at all levels is of utmost important for the state of Israel.

Additionally, Mikheil Chkhenkeli introduced Georgia’s plan to his colleague, according to which, the Georgian-Jewish friendship will be presented to the UNESCO World Intangible Cultural Heritage list. This fact is a unique precedent in the history of humankind when friendship between nations will be granted the status of the world's intangible cultural heritage.
