Due to recent developments, regulations will be tightened with regard to school excursions. Deputy Minister of Education and Science of Georgia - Lia Gigauri talked about several issues, and emphasized that school excursions will become of great importance to the overall education platform. In this regard, the scheduled programs will continue, though safety norms and regulations will become much stricter.

According to the new approach, the school will now be required to request the documents certifying the driver's qualification and technical qualifications from the transportation company. In addition, the excursion will be organized by the educational institution or by the parents’ initiative. It is now obligatory, that the school administration is fully aware of the details of the excursion program. Furthermore, it is mandatory to have a person present, who has passed the first medical aid course.

As of today, the recommendations designed by the Ministries of Education and Science, Culture and Sport and Labor, Health and Social Affairs are being enforced, but only if the excursion organizer is an institution, e.g. public, private, sports or artistic institution. The regulations were not applied to the self-organized excursions.
