The US government funds 10 new projects to promote vocational education

Millennium Challenge Account - Georgia has awarded the winners of a grant competition for promoting industry participation in the vocational education sector within the scope of the "Vocation Education for Economic Development" project. The project is financed by the US Millennium Challenge Corporation, within the $ 140 million compact between the governments of the United States and Georgia.

The competition aimed at raising the awareness of vocational education, received 43 applications in total. Applications were submitted by the educational institutions, from private and non-governmental sector representatives from Tbilisi and the regions of Georgia. The Independent Assessment Commission has selected to finance ten projects with the total budget of 190,295 US dollars, from which the grant amount equals to 177,010 USD and the remaining 7% (13,285 USD) derives from the collaboration with the private sector.

With the help of the funded projects, numerous new vocational programs will be developed, new methods of teaching will be implemented for dual, work-based and inclusive education, in conjunction with encouraging girls to become more attracted to the Information Technology field and promote vocational courses.
