Mikheil Chkhenkeli - Minister of Education and Science of Georgia and Mariam Jashi – a Chairman of Education, Science and Culture Committee of Georgian Parliament held a meeting with the Director of European Center for Nuclear Research (CERN) - Fabiola Gianotti.
At the meeting with the General Director, the sides discussed the participation of Georgian scientists in CERN experiments and deepening cooperation in this regard. The Minister of Education and Science of Georgia has confirmed the willingness of Georgia to support Georgian science in "Atlas" and CMS experiments. Discussions also focused on the prospect of Georgia's associated membership in CERN, which will enable Georgian scientists, students, school teachers to deepen their knowledge in science and conduct international level studies.
Mariam Jashi and Mikheil Chkhenkeli informed Fabiola Gianotti regarding the accelerator and the immense university project in Kutaisi, to which the General Director of CERN pledges his full support. Moreover, Fabiola Gianotti was invited to Georgia, to further discuss the prospects of cooperation. Additionally, the Georgian side visited ATLAS and CMS experiment offices and met with the researchers.
