Dimitri Shashkini and the Mission Director of United States Agency for International Development (USAID) Jonathan M. Conly signed Memorandum of Understanding on the development and deployment of Student Information System (SIS).
The goal of SIS is to assist the Ministry of Education and Science in planning financial and human resources and developing more equitable annual and mid-term projections. SIS supports effective functioning and exchanging of information between the Ministry, its agencies and Resource Centers.
“For the first time in Georgian education system, Georgian and US Governments signed Memorandum in order to create students’ database. Development of this program supports generating accurate data on student registration, developing modern technologies, effective management and introducing electronic base, that are very important in improvement of Georgian education system” – announced Dimitri Shashkini.
SIS will be piloted in 20 schools and 4 Resource Centers in order to generate accurate data on student registration, scheduling, attendance, grading and report generation. The first report of SIS will be produced by the end of 2010. The system will be rolled out countrywide by the end of 2011.
USAID’s three-year Education Management Project aims to assist Government of Georgia in improving education policies and school financing.
