Success of Georgian students at the International Mathematical Olympiad – IMO

One silver and 5 bronze medals were won by the National team of six students, who returned from the 59th International Mathematical Olympiad, held in Cluj, Romania on 7-14 July, 2018. 
The winning team of Mathematics International Olympiad was composed of students of Komarov Physics and Mathematical School: Saba Lepsveridze, Nika Birkadze, Temo Toloraia, Sandro Khokhiashvili, Dima Korkotashvili and Luka Mushkudiani. In fact, it was Saba Lepsveridze, who became the proud owner of silver medal whereas the rest of the team members have acquired respective bronze medals.

The International Mathematical Olympiad featured students from 107 countries this year. The Georgian team showed one of the best results at the Olympiad and managed to gain 212 points from the overall 252 points. The team of Georgian students took the 27th place.

The team was led by the Doctor of Physics and Mathematics, Assistant Professor - Giorgi Chelidze, a co-leader, Doctor of Physical and Mathematical Sciences, Assistant Professor - Givi Nadibaidze, and an assistant – the Gold Medalist of the 2017 Olympiad - Aleksandre Saatashvili.

Members of Georgian national team have been selected based on the results of the third round of the National Training Olympiad held in 2018, as well as other various specially designed selection tours.
