International Music Festival in Telavi

On September 18, the Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sport held a press conference regarding the International Music Festival in Telavi.

The event was led by First Deputy Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sport of Georgia - Mikheil Giorgadze and the Head of Festival - Maia Kokochashvili.

The International Music Festival of Telavi will be held in the city of Telavi on October 3-13 with the support of the Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sport and the Classical Music Center. The founder and the art director of the festival is the famous Georgian pianist - Eliso Virsaladze.

Moreover, there are 10 concerts to be conducted within the scope of the festival. Six of them will be held at Telavi State Drama Theater, one of them at Niko Sulkhanishvili Music School, and another one in Tsinandali, at the famous Aleksandre Chavchavadze Museum. There are two more concerts planned on the premises of the museum.

The brilliant pianists of various generations will be presented to the audience such as: The founder and the art director of the festival - the famous Georgian musician - Eliso Virsaladze; Boris Berezovsky - the famous celebrity musician in the world, who is very a well-known artist for the Georgian public; Famous pianist - Alexander Korsantia - the laureate of the Artur Rubinstein's Pianists Competition in 2017 , Daniel Chabanu; Matte Blumin - a 14-year-old, who is regarded as one of the most prominent representatives of the younger generation, Alexander Ram and Bruno Phillip; as well as the International Festival Orchestra directed by Ariel Zuckermann, and  Tbilisi State Chamber Orchestra – “Georgian Sinfonietta" – who will hold a celebratory concert on its 10th anniversary.

Besides, with the participation of "Alter Orchestra" and Mirian Khukhunaishvili, another interesting concert will be held at the Aleksandre Chavchavadze museum in Tsinandali. Additionally, students of Zakaria Paliashvili Central Music school of Tbilisi will give an incredible performance. Attendance to these events is completely free of charge. Also, a lecture-concert will be held, by a string-quartet “Iberi” on the premises of Tsinandali Park for the socially vulnerable children.

This year, the most important educational component is also presented at the festival. Along with the concerts, the musicians will perform various master classes for the students: Eliso Virsaladze, Khatuna Kokochashvili (Piano), Deniz Tahbeber (Violin) and Sebastian Schwartz (Vocals) are amongst the scheduled master classes to be attended. Additionally, Open lessons will be held in Telavi Niko Sulkhanishvili Music School, where the attendance is free of charge.

The festival, established by Eliso Virsaladze in the 80s of the 20th century, was renewed in 2010 and since then is supported by the Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sport of Georgia.

Traditionally, the festival hosts the world class musicians of different generations in Telavi.

Tickets can be purchased in person atTbilisi State Conservatoire's box office and online on the following website: www.biletebi.ge. From September 17, tickets will also be sold at Telavi Theater. It is noteworthy that the organizers of the festival, in order to increase the awareness of classical music in Georgia, have agreed on affordable ticket prices, ranging from 25 to 35 GEL. Taking into account the interest of the audience, the organizers have also arranged the transportation and appointed the bus service: (Tbilisi-Telavi-Tbilisi). Bus tickets are sold at the Conservatoire box office.
