Folklore State Center was opened in Ozurgeti

For the purposes of boosting the cultural and educational activities, in conjunction with raising the awareness of the Georgian folklore and its preservation, the Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sport of Georgia - Mikheil Batiashvili, together with the representatives of the Ministry of the Regional Development and Infrastructure, private sector officials, has opened the renovated Folklore State Center in Ozurgeti. 
The Folklore State Center will be a hub of cultural and educational activity in the region, as well as the major tourism destination of Ozurgeti. Georgian folklore with its solid foundation, is a backbone of the Georgian culture and its real identity.

One of the main tasks of opening the Folk center is to grasp the interest of new generation. Consequently, the center is accessible for children of the region.

The renovation of the folklore state center of Georgia has been underway for over three years with a total investment of 1,639, 892 GEL. The Municipal Development Fund of the Ministry of Regional Development and Infrastructure of Georgia has carried out the full rehabilitation of interior as well as the outside façade. With the support of the Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sport of Georgia, the building was equipped with modern technologies and all necessary equipment.

1300 square meters, which includes 4 floors, has been equipped with modern technology sound recording studio, archive room, exhibition and concert halls, and administrative offices. The building is fully adapted for people with disabilities as well.

Ensembles: "Creator", "Shvidkatsa", "Basiani", local collective "Shalva Chemo" and various singers from Ozurgeti, Mestia and Oni participated in the celebratory concert opening.
