The Deputy Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sport of Georgia - Irine Abuladze awarded the winners of the National and International Training Olympiads, comprising of a variety of prizes and cash incentives for the winners.
The National Training Olympiad is held annually, consisting of student ofts X-XII grades of both public and private schools.
The 2017-Olympiad was held in the following subjects:
Ethnic minority students had the opportunity to participate in the Olympiad utilizing their native language: Armenian, Azeri or Russian. Visually impaired students could also participate in the Olympiad (Braille alphabet being used). Moreover, the Olympiad consisted of 3 stages: school, regional and the final tours. The National Center for Assessment and Examinations has provided the Olympiad with all the necessary technical and administrative assistance.
121 winner students were unveiled as a result of the Olympiad:
I place - 14 students;
II place - 14 students;
III place - 16 students;
IV-X places - 77 students. Winners will be awarded accordingly with an equal distribution of Gift Cards for Computer Equipment and Accessories worth 1000, 700, 500 and 50 GEL, in conjunction with receiving a certificate of participation.
In 2018, National IT Olympiad was held in 2 stages and three age categories. The Olympiad conducted its own "Association of Supporting Information Technologies” as the subject is not taught in schools. There were nine winners revealed as a result of the competition:
I place - 3 students,
II place - 3 students,
III place - 3 students,
IV-X places - 18 students
The Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sport of Georgia finances the participation of Georgian teams in the world's largest and most prestigious international Olympiads annually within the framework of "Successful Students Promotion Program".
This year 21 Georgian students participated in the international Olympiads:
Mathematics (IMO),
In physics (IPHO);
Informatics (IOI);
Biology (IBO) and
Chemistry (ICHO).
Two students from international Olympiads earned gold, two silver and ten bronze medals and four students were awarded with honorary diplomas.
Gold medal owner was awarded with 3000 GEL, whereas the owner of silver medal with 2000 GEL and subsequently the bronze medal owner was awarded with 1000 GEL.
It should be noted that during the last two years, the national teams of Georgia have participated in prestigious international Olympiads, where more than 100 countries take part every year.
