Within the scope of the first meeting of EU-Georgia Cooperation in Brussels, cluster meetings were held between the representatives of the European Commission and the Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sport of Georgia, as well as, the Commissioner for European Neighborhood Policy and Enlargement Issues - Johannes Hani, Director of Cooperation with EU Eastern Partnership Countries - Lawrence Meredith and the European Commissioner for Negotiations on European Neighborhood Policy and Enlargement – Hanna Jans.

The Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sport of Georgia - Mikheil Batiashvili together with the first deputies - Irina Abuladze and Levan Kharatishvili presented innovative educational projects and proposals such as the Group / Cluster Approach in Education and Research, as well as the creation of similar conditions for Georgian students as it is present in the European Union; the introduction of innovative digital technologies in education and the initiation of a new joint project - EU-Georgia Cultural Bridges aimed at expanding intercultural dialogue and cultural internationalization. The meeting also focused on the development of bilateral cultural programs and the European Cultural Days Campaign in Georgia and the recognition of Georgia in the European Union.

Representatives from the European Commission expressed their readiness for cooperation and decided to start the EU's Joint Research Centers in cooperation with universities in Georgia, the Georgian research centers and the private sector, as well as providing technical assistance and knowledge sharing, joint training for researchers to develop and participate in seminars and the exchange of scientific and technological knowledge. The sides agreed on further strengthening and deepening the existing cooperation.
