The Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sport of Georgia - Mikheil Batiashvili held a meeting with the heads of diplomatic missions abroad at the annual meeting - "Ambassadors' Conference" in cooperation with the EU, who evaluation the cooperation with Georgia with positive results and called Georgia an important friend and a partner.
Mikheil Batiashvili spoke about the joint projects and emphasized the system reform process that implies substantial renewal and effective development of preschool, general, vocational, higher education and scientific.
The Minister said that since 2019 the Ministry launches a gradual transition to the European model of public financing of cultural sphere, the purpose of which is a fair, transparent and accountable society. As for sport, the Minister said that sports achievements will show the country in the international arena. Therefore, care for sports development will be one of the main priorities of the government and the agency alltogether,
"The success of these reforms implies the success of implementing modern western standards. Therefore, cooperation with international organizations and sharing their experiences is of paramount importance to us, " – stated Mikheil Batiashvili and emphasized the visit of Georgian PM to Brussels in November, where the signing of a financial agreement between Georgia and the EU will take place. Within the framework of the visit, the Minister emphasized many important initiatives, including the creation of a mechanism to create the same tuition fee for Georgian citizens in the EU.
Mikheil Batiashvili spoke about the EU program at ERASMUS Plus, which has serious achievements in Georgia; In addition, the EU research and innovation program "Horizont 2020", which allows Georgian scientists, researchers, small and medium enterprises or large companies to create European-level science, research / innovative products or services.
The Minister also emphasized the Council of Europe's Ministerial, which was successfully hosted by Georgia; With this, another success of the Ministry was recorded on the international scene, according to which UNESCO put Georgian wrestling into the list of the world intangible cultural heritage.
"For this purpose, our Ministry plans to implement European culture days in Georgia in the spring of 2019 and we hope your involvement in this project will be a guarantee of the cultural success of European countries," added the Minister.
