Minister of Education and Science, Dimitri Shashkini got familiarized with the teaching methodology of Batumi State Maritime Academy on the training ship. Service Agency of the Ministry of Finance of Georgia presented the Academy with training ship in February, 2010. After rehabilitation, future seafarers pass practical lessons on this ship in following specialties: ship operations and management, electro mechanic that are in compliance with international sea convention.
60 students pass the practical lessons on the ship at the same time. After graduating six-month course, seafarers will receive so called Working Diploma from the maritime administration for the first time in maritime history.
Graduates of Batumi State Maritime Academy will have opportunity to be employed at any leading crewing company of the world after receiving the diploma. It is significant that demand for qualified seafarers is large in the world market.
Before presenting the training ship, graduates of Batumi State Maritime Academy were awarded only with education diplomas. They were passing practical lessons on different ships. After global economic crisis, many crewing companies were bankrupted and therefore, opportunity of receiving practical lessons decreased.
Above mentioned problem will be solved by presenting the training ship to the Academy. Graduates will receive education and working diplomas at once.
Dimitri Shashkini personally got familiarized with practical teaching process, inspected devices and technique that are necessary to drive the ship. By the announcement of Dimitri Shashkini, presenting the Maritime Academy with training ship is very important. Demand for qualified seafarers increase in the world market. We are glad Batumi State Maritime Academy satisfies all requirements.
5000 Georgian seafarers are being employed in different leading crewing companies of the world.
