Mikheil Batiashvili, Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sport, together with the Mayor of Tbilisi, Kakhi Kaladze and invited guests, laid the foundation for the construction of the "New Education and Science City", which will be built on the array of 12th km of David Aghmashenebeli Alley.

As Mikheil Batiashvili said during the capsule throw ceremony, "City of New Education and Science" will become a model of high quality education, which will serve the goals set out in the education reform.

According to Mikheil Batiashvili, it is evident, that in order to achieve the goals, including for the development of education clusters, there is a clear need for a multi-functional education complex that will be a hub for the implementation of reform and its achievements in other educational institutions.

Construction of a new academic city is part of the education system reform that covers all levels of education.
