The National Council for Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) of Georgia has discussed the success and challenges achieved in Georgia. The meeting was attended by the Deputy Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sport of Georgia, Natia Zedginidze, who spoke about the challenges in the field of education and science.

The Council emphasized the importance of Georgia's national goals, which aims to improve education, economic development, the climate change and environmental protection. Representatives of the relevant ministries talked about the current situation in the country and the future prospects. Discussions touched upon issues such as sustainable tourism, business development, modern sustainable industrialization, inclusive education, forest and biodiversity protection.

The second annual meeting of the Council was organized by the Administration of the Government of Georgia and the United Nations which was attended by more than 100 representatives of the local government, UN, civil society, private sector, academic institutions and international organizations.

The SDGS Council was established in 2017 with the initiative of the Government of Georgia, with continuos support from the United Nations and the Swedish Government.
