Minister of Education and Science, Dimitri Shashkini, European Director of Business Development, Microsoft Public and Private Alliances, Dan MacFetridge and Intel Global Education Director for World Ahead, Brian Gonzalez signed an agreement in Batumi. Memorandum envisages close cooperation between the parties.

By the initiative of the President of Georgia, first graders will receive netbooks. The program will be piloted in Zugdidi, Batumi and Tserovani schools from the next academic year. State will provide all first graders with netbooks free of charge. Presenting the school children with netbooks is designed to introduce the world standards in educational system, develop appropriate skills and integrate them in international educational space.

School children will use netbooks together with the textbooks. Educational programs, textbooks and literature will be uploaded in these computers.

Netbooks were designed by the joint efforts of the leading companies, experts and psychologists of the world. Children’s psychology as well as skills and abilities are foreseen in these computers. Netbooks will support developing of these skills.

According to the agreement signed between MES, Microsoft and Intel, these companies will support MES with educational materials and resources. Teachers will be trained in order to master the netbooks.

School children will have opportunity of learning, collaborating with peers, families and their world as well as making the educational process more interesting” – announced Minister of Education and Science, Dimitri Shashkini.
