The event dedicated to the 100th anniversary since the birth of Giorgi Melikishvili, the doctor of history of the world sciences, and a public figure, was held at the Georgian Academy of Sciences. Deputy Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sport of Georgia - Natia Zedginidze addressed the invited guests.

Giorgi Melikishvili distinguished for his merits in Georgian sciences and achievements in the international arena, played a crucial role in the rise of Georgian historical science. His fundamental works have created a new stage in the history and philology of the Old East. Giorgi Melikishvili Scientific Award has been launched by the Georgian National Academy of Sciences since 2010.
