Mikheil Batiashvili: "Our goal is to have a long-term strategy for the development of science"

With the support of the Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sport of Georgia, organized by the Shota Rustaveli Scientific Foundation, a scientific forum - "Prospects of Development of Science in Georgia" was opened by the Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sport of Georgia - Mikheil Batiashvili.

The forum discussed the current situation in the field of science, as well as the challenges of the planned education reform, the perspectives of science development and its role in education. Panel discussions were also held in different science fields such as- natural sciences, medicine & health, agrarian, humanitarian, Kartvelian studies, social sciences, engineering and technologies.

The scientific forum was attended by the representatives of universities, scientific-research institutes and various specialists. Representatives of the diplomatic corps and international organizations also attended the event.

"Science is one of the main priorities of the said Reform. There is no education without the development of science. Our goal is to have a long-term strategy for development towards science. The most important thing is that this strategy has already been launched and specific steps will be taken as soon as possible. It is necessary to determine the correct and important priorities for the country that responds precisely to today's trends. We will also present plans for the next month for the science development at major universities, which will give us the best result. We have to go through the reform together with an active cooperation, and get all stakeholders involved. “- stated Mikheil Batiashvili.

The Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sport of Georgia implements a comprehensive reform of education, which implies complex and interdisciplinary approaches in all directions (preschool, general, vocational, higher education and science).
