Mikheil Batiashvili, the Minister of Education, Science and Sport of Georgia, and US Ambassador to Georgia - Ross Wilson awarded the winners of the Millennium Challenge Competition, organized by the Millennium Challenge Fund.

Sophie Chikhladze, Mariam Gamreklashvili, Aleksandre Kajaia, Giorgi Regishvili and Iona Iobidze presented the project "Barney Smart Labyrinth" to the competition.

Mikheil Batiashvili wished success to future scientists and noted that similar projects are important for their development, as well as for the development of the country.

"Today we have seen impressive and innovative projects created by the students. The future science-inventors probably start their career with such kind of projects. For the future of these children, it’s the experience of participating in this competition, which is crucial. I am glad that more and more young people are interested and involved in innovations and technologies. I wish future scientists to be successful and I would like to thank the Millennium Development Fund, the US Embassy and all the supporting institutions for the implementation of this project, "said the Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sport of Georgia.

The winners will leave for the NASA Space Center University in summer. Second and third place winning teams will take part in the International Scientific Camp.

Millennium Challenge Foundation has been successfully organizing the Millennium Innovation Contest for the fifth year already. Various teams from Tbilisi, Senaki, Kutaisi and Telavi schools participated during the final stage of the competition. Finalists were financially supported by Millennium Challenge Fund, which enabled them to develop innovative projects.
