Second International Festival of Traditional Handcrafting

A press conference dedicated to "Second International Festival of Traditional Handcrafting Workshops" was held at the Ministry of Education, Science and Sport of Georgia.

The event was led by Nana Dolidze - Head of the Department of Culture of Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sport, Deputy Head of USAID Project "Growth in Georgia" - Ketevan Chumburidze, the Mayor of Akhaltsikhe Municipality - Zaza Melikidze, the Director of Georgian Folk and Applied Art Museu - Ana Shanshiashvili and Irina Mania - Director Traditional Handrcrafting Association.

Press conference covered the information about the participation in the festival and described the variety of activities that will be held within the scope of the Festival.

Second International Festival of Traditional Handcrafting will be held in Akhaltsikhe Castle (Rabati) on 28-30 June 2019. There will be various open masterclasses held during the event such as: drawing and painting on ceramics, natural coloring, assembly, tissue cutting, making musical instruments, and etc. Smaller stands will be available for exhibition-sale of traditional handicraft products at workshops. The Festival program also includes the exhibition of museum collectibles, artisans and modern artists, as well as, educational programs for children, public lectures, presentations and concerts. The aim of the festival is to popularize traditional handrcrafting in Georgia. 

Second International Festival of Traditional Handicrafts is organized by the Georgian State Museum of Folk and Applied Arts and Traditional Handicrafts Association of Georgia.

The festival is supported by the Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sport of Georgia, USAID Project "Growth in Georgia", GIZ / IBIS Project in Georgia, Akhaltsikhe Municipality City Hall, Ministry of Education, Culture and Sport of Adjara Autonomous Republic and Dusheti Municipality.
