Owing to the support of the Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sport of Georgia, Ivane Javakhishvili Tbilisi State University opened the Tbilisi Regional Center of European Academy. The Center will assist Georgia's scientific community to bridge the gap towards the European science, innovation and technology, in conjunction with promoting the country in the direction of European integration.
European Regional Academy of Education and Research Center in the UK-based European Academy (Academia Europea) and will help the Georgian side with the management of the facility, as well share the European achievements of national and regional policies for production, international agencies coordinated work, interdisciplinary scientific research, various incentives, and etc. Tbilisi Center is the fifth member of the regional centers of European Academy of Sciences.
According to Irina Abuladze, the main goal of higher education in the education reform is integration into the European Higher Education systems. According to her, there are several important priorities in science direction, namely integration with EU research and innovation system, promoting young scientists, developing flexible and efficient schemes of science funding and commercialization of scientific research results.
"The opening of the Regional Center" Academy of Europe "at Tbilisi State University has a great political significance in the process of large-scale reform of the education system. It is worth noting that Georgia is the first country in the non-EU countries where the Academy of Science Research Center will start functioning. This educational hub will have special support from the Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sport of Georgia, "said Irina Abuladze.
