Renovated schools were opened in the villages of Kareli region – Dvani, Takhtisdziri and Dirbi. Rehabilitative workings were financed by USAID. First Deputy Minister of Education and Science, Koka Seperteladze and Acting Director of USAID mission to Georgia, Ioakim Parker attended the school opening ceremony.

The schools of Dvani, Takhtisdziri and Dirbi were damaged during the Russian intervention. By the announcement of the First Deputy Minister of Education and Science, Koka Seperteladze, assistance of the US Government is very important for the development of Georgia. Schools that were damaged during the Russian intervention were rehabilitated in compliance with modern standards. Studying in the refurbished schools that are located in the former conflict region has dual meaning for these children.  School rehabilitation project was financed in the scope of 1 billion US dollars support for Georgian people. The project will last for 5 years. CHF Georgia implements it in Georgia.

16 schools were renovated in the former conflict zones of Gori and Kareli regions in the framework of this project. The cost of the project amounts to 2,9million US dollars.

3500 school children study in rehabilitated schools. Teaching Process will be significantly improved after renovation.
