Center, Natia Jokhadze
introduced the results of textbook competition to the teachers and Principals
of schools.
MES announced competition of the
textbooks for 4th, 5th, 8th, 11th
and 12th grades for 2010-2011 years in January. 120 textbooks of 32
publishing houses were presented at the competition. As a result of the
competition, 77 textbooks have been approved. Around 40% of school textbooks
were not approved.
As it is known, new procedures and approaches of textbook approval were
developed in 2010 by National Curriculum and Assessment Center.
Terms of competition were advanced. Textbook evaluation criteria, technical
parameters, procedure and methodology of assessment were strictly defined.
Subject matter experts of National Curriculum and Assessment Center
as well as invited experts of different academic sectors and teachers
participated in textbook approval.
Textbook competition is designed to support the school children with the
books of high quality and advance the quality of teaching.
