It is important that the European Innovation Council (EIC) aims, through competition, to support ambitious, collaborative research projects aimed at the development of radical and innovative technologies. The Council for European Innovation will, in its essence, be a one-stop-shop service provider for all interested individuals.

The European Innovation Council (EIC) will help innovators create future markets, manage private finances and grow their companies. Additionally, the European Innovation Council will pursue its goals through two funding instruments: the EIC Pathfinder and the EIC Accelerator.

EIC Pathfinder grants technology ready from the early stages of pre-commercialization. While the EIC Accelerator issues grants and so-called funds. Blended finance (from pre-commercialization to market and beyond to scale-up projects).

Furthermore, the EIC Pathfinder pilot will provide funding to support ambitious collaborative research projects aimed at developing radical and innovative technologies.

The EIC Accelerator pilot will be designed for companies and start-ups that have a radically new, high-risk, and so-called market-based business plan and non-bankable ideas.
