The
Council of Europe is conducting a pilot study to assess the risks of
manipulation of sports events. The organization selected four countries for the
study. Georgia was included in the list along with Norway, Belgium and
Portugal.
As
part of the project, Australian expert Damian Waltz visited Georgia, and was
hosted by the Deputy Minister - Shalva Gogoladze. The meeting was attended by
the representatives of the Ministry and the Parliament of Georgia. Shalva
Gogoladze expressed his gratitude towards Damian Waltz for his continuous
support and noted that Georgia will continue to actively fight sports
manipulation in the future.
The
Australian side will provide a pilot study initiated by the Council of Europe
together with the Ministry and the National Sports Federations. In the process
of research, Damian Waltz will meet with representatives of various
federations, hear out the problems and challenges they face and share the
Australian experience.
