The world's first sand games have been officially opened

The opening ceremony of the world's first sand games was held in Doha, the capital of Qatar. The event was hosted by the Doha Cultural Center Amphitheater. The organizers introduced the viewers to the culture of Qatar and revived the history of the country.

The sand games are held under the auspices of the National Olympic Committee. More than 1,200 athletes from 97 countries participate in the games. There are currently four competitors in the Georgian delegation. Levan Kelekhsashvili (70kg), David Khutsishvili (80kg), Dato Marsagishvili (90kg) and Mamuka Kordzaia (+90kg) will compete in the sand wrestling medals. The wrestling team will compete on October 14.

The Georgian delegation is headed by the President of the National Olympic Committee, the Olympic Champion - Leri Khabelov. The world's first sand games - Qatar 2019 - will end on October 16.
