On October 16-20, Georgia presented the program "Follow the Journey of Georgian Characters” at the 2019 Frankfurt Book Fair.
Owing to the support of the Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sport, the Georgian Writers' House, and the Georgian Book Publishers and Distributors Association, a five-day genre-themed program is planned at the National Stand of Georgia, featuring contemporary poetry and prose, classical lit Era, documentary prose, children's literature and illustrations, art, publications, and politics.
This year, Georgia will be represented at 3 venues at the Frankfurt Book Fair: the National Stand of Georgia, the Frankfurt Kids Foyer stand-by unpublished Georgian stand, and a separate space, "Spend 4 Seasons in Georgia." About 10 Georgian authors, scholars and illustrators will participate in 20 carefully orchestrated featurette comprised of: Beka Adamashvili, Zaza Bibilashvili, Giorgi Lobzhanidze, David Lortkipanidze, Tatia Nadareishvili, Eka Tabliashvili, Iva Fezuashvili, Zurab Karumidze, and many more.
Georgian illustrators will be given a special stand at the Third Hall of the Frankfurt Market to display illustrated books and conduct various workshops. German critics present works by Georgian classical writers (Mikhail Javakhishvili's "Jako’s Khiznebi” Daniel Chonkadze's "Surami Fortress"). Discussions will be held with the participation of Georgian and Norwegian writers in the series "Honorable Visitor Countries of Frankfurt Book Fair - Georgia (2018) and Norway (2019). Georgian poets will present anthology of Georgian poetry" Heart of Georgia - 33 Poets from Georgia ". There will also be a presentation of new German-language books by Rezo Gabriadze and Merab Mamardashvili and a special stand "Spend Four Seasons in Georgia" is planned under the slogan "Discover Georgia".
