The anthology of Georgian polyphonic singing was given to Princeton University as a gift
21.11.2019

Giorgi Donadze donated an eight-volume of Georgian polyphonic singing and Church choirs to Princeton University Library. The director of the Folklore Center and the head of the ensemble "Basiani" also donated audio versions of "You Are a Vineyard" to the University Library. The oldest Georgian hymn was published as a book specifically for the Frankfurt book fair in 2018. As for the eight-volume chanting anthology, it contains Georgian hymns preserved in manuscripts published in the 19th and 20th centuries.

Georgian State Ensemble "Basiani" is currently in the USA, within the framework of their autumn tour. Hymns from the Anthology and various versions of "You're a Vineyard" were performed at Princeton University. Basiani members also held a master class and taught the students several Georgian folk songs. As part of the tour, the "Basiani" concert at the Lincoln Center was in full swing. Solo concerts were also held in Berkeley (California) and Princeton.
