On December 2, a football center was opened in Varketili (near the №425 block apartment). One standard artificial football pitch, equipped with 230 lux lightings and a mini football pitch were arranged in the center area. There is also a 180-seat podium equipped with a platform for people with disabilities, an administrative building with dressing rooms, as well as rooms dedicated for referee, the medical staff, coaching and other designated areas that are required.
Construction of the football center began in the fall of 2018. The project was funded by the Georgian Football Federation and FIFA program - FORWARD. The total cost of the project is 2 223 174 GEL.
The sports complex will have free access to Varketili football schools, amateur teams and regional children's teams alike.
The opening ceremony was attended by Deputy Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sport - Shalva Gogoladze, Tbilisi Mayor - Kakhi Kaladze, President of the Football Federation - Levan Kobiashvili, Chairman of the City Council - Giorgi Tkemaladze, and Head of the Parliamentary Committee on Sport and Youth Affairs - Mikheil Kavelashvili.
