Deputy Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sport of Georgia, Levan Kharatishvili hosted the President of the European Wine Association ITER VITIS - Emanuela Panke. At the meeting, the sides discussed Georgia's membership in the European Wine Route. Levan Kharatishvili also thanked Ms. Panke for giving the Georgian students the opportunity to undergo various internships at Italian winemaking centers.

In the summer of 2019, with the support of the European Wine Association and the Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sport of Georgia, Georgian students underwent an internship at the Italian Winery. The project was also organized by the Regional Center for Consulting and New Vocations of the Georgian Technical University.

Georgia, as the homeland of wine, has been honored in the European Wine Route since 2017, under the Latin name Iter-Vitis (Vine Travel). The aim of the route is to protect the biodiversity of wine, to emphasize its uniqueness in today's global world, to promote the development of wine material and the intangible culture. The history and heritage of Georgian wine is represented in the Iter Vitis route by its diverse culture, including vineyards, wineries, as well as varuous cultural heritage sites related to vines and wine, such as churches and monasteries, museums or archeological locations. The Wine Tourism Association of Georgia is a member of the route.

Moreover, the expansion of Iter Vitis network is planned in the coming future. For this purpose, the Association Iter Vitis Georgia-Caucasus has been established.

The meeting was also attended by Tamar Koblianidze, Executive Director of the Regional Center for Consulting and New Professions, students on a one-week internship at ITER VITIS in Sicily, and the founders of the ITER VITIS Georgia-Caucasus Association.
