Deputy Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sport of Georgia, Ekaterine Dgebuadze opened the Summit Forum on Public Schools Activities Involved in the “New School Model” Project in Zestafoni and addressed the audience. Additionally, Chairman of the Parliamentary Committee on Education, Science and Culture - Genadi Margvelashvili and the Mayor of Zestaponi - Giorgi Goglichidze, also addressed the audience.
Within the framework of the forum, representatives of the six local public schools involved in the project summarized the results achieved by the introduction of the New School Model in 2019 and shared their experiences. Participants also discussed issues related to the development of a student-centered educational environment, the development of a school culture, improvement of teaching-learning quality and developing complex project assignments.
In her speech, the Deputy Minister spoke about the support of the Ministry in the development of educational culture at schools and noted that in order to create a student-centered educational environment it is necessary to identify the interests of each student and to develop their practical and creative skills. According to Ekaterine Dgebuadze, holding such forums is crucial as, in addition to focusing on the achievements of the "New School Model", it is also important to consider the challenges in schools and the recommendations of teachers involved in the project.
The "New School Model" project started in 2019 and is currently being implemented in the first-fourth grades of 165 schools. By 2024, the project will cover most schools in all regions of Georgia. Since March 2019, the new school model project in Zestafoni municipality includes: Zestafoni Public Schools №5, №6 and №7, and since October 2019: Zestafoni Public School № 1, Dilikauri Village and Puti Village Public Schools of Zestaponi Municipality.
