On February 14, the final stage of the Judo and Greco-Roman Wrestling Tournament was held at Tsalka Sports Complex (7 Chabukiani Street). The two-day tournament was held in 13 weight categories. 80 young athletes participated in the competition.
The final stage of the tournament and the awarding ceremony of the victorious athletes was attended by Shalva Gogoladze, the Deputy Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sport, who presented the Judo Tatami mats and various sports equipment to the representatives of the local municipality. Vasil Liparteliani, Head of the Department of Physical Education and Sport Development of the Ministry and Anzor Khinikadze, Vice-Mayor of Tsalka, also attended the final matches of the tournament.
The event was held within the framework of the preliminary activities of the 2020 European Sports Week. The European Sport Week will be held in Georgia for the third time on September 23-30. The week, initiated by the European Commission, has been held annually since 2015 and promotes sports and physical activity across all Europe.
