With regards to opening domestic tourism in the country, the Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sport of Georgia offers the first mobile application of Georgian cultural routes. The free mobile application - Cultural Routes Georgia, created by the Ministry  is available for both Android and iOS platforms. At this stage, the application has integrated all the routes certified by the Council of Europe and the Ministry. Two new certified routes will be added in the coming future.

European routes:

Levan Kharatishvili, Deputy Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sport of Georgia and Mariam Kvrivishvili, Head of the Georgian National Tourism Administration signed a memorandum of understanding to promote and development of cultural tourism.

The memorandum entails cooperation on the following issues: development of the Council of Europe's cultural routes program in Georgia and raising public awareness, planning and implementing joint projects in the field of cultural tourism; Supporting international events in the field of cultural tourism / cultural routes, placing information on certified cultural routes on maps, creating brochures, developing online platforms, integrating tourism strategies and action plans, and integrating the cultural routes developed by the Ministry.

Within the scope of the event, two new cultural routes certified by the Ministry were presented, which will be widely available in the coming future. Certificates of the routes were handed over to the managing bodies by Deputy Minister, Levan Kharatishvili.

The aim of the cultural routes is to create and promote the development of local and international cultural routes based on European values ​​and fundamental principles, and to further integrate Georgia into transnational routes. The development of the local cultural routes has been announced by the Ministry of Culture through the “Strategic Development and Certification Council of Cultural Routes” through a competition in 2019, with a clear aim to showcase a diverse culture of Georgia.

Georgia became the 27^th member of the Council of Europe's Extended Share Agreement on Cultural Routes in 2016. The Council of Europe's Cultural Routes Program includes 38 certified routes that cross 57 countries and more than 1,500 cities.
