Jaba Samushia was appointed Director General of the Rustaveli National Science Foundation as a result of an announced competition for the vacant position.
The top priority of the Rustaveli National Science Foundation will be to finance and promote important scientific projects for the development of the country, to ensure a transparent and fair administration of competitions, to meet the existing international standards, to overcome the existing problems and challenges, and to integrate Georgian science into the international scientific space. At the same time, all directions of science will be given due importance, the Rustaveli Foundation will be in the service of true science, scientific thought" - stated Jaba Samushia.
Jaba Samushia is an Academic Doctor of History, Full Professor at Ivane Javakhishvili Tbilisi State University; Editor-in-Chief of the magazine "Historian"; Member of the Scientific Council of the Journal of the Institute of Oriental Studies (Institutum Orientalium) of Torun (Republic of Poland) - "Studia Orientalne". As well as the proud recipient of the highest reward of the University of Warsaw – University Medal. Additionally, he is the author of more than 200 scientific papers, including 25 books, textbooks, and lecture courses. From 2018 onwards, he has been the Deputy General Director of the Rustaveli National Science Foundation.
The goal of the Shota Rustaveli Georgian National Science Foundation is to develop the system of science, technology, and innovation in the country, to prepare new generations of scientists to ensure the growth of quality, importance, and competitiveness of innovative scientific research.
