UNICEF Representative Ghasan Khalil praised the decision of the Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sport of Georgia to start the new semester on September 15.
Ghassan Khalil: “UNICEF is working closely with the Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sport to ensure that schools open safely on September 15, that all children have the right to education, and that education is resumed in the best interests of children.
UNICEF supports the safe opening of schools around the world, as well as in Georgia. There is no evidence that the incidence of disease delay is related to the opening or closing of schools. However, there is ample evidence of the negative impact that school closures have on our children."
