Minister of Education and Science, Dimitri Shashkini and Director of National Curriculum and Assessment Center, Natia Jokhadze met with 150 class tutors of public schools. Minister spoke about innovations, particularly about new program of the Hours for Class Tutors that is envisaged in the new National curriculum.
Hours for Class Tutors will be introduced for the school children of I-IV forms. This program is foreseen for the class tutors of primary school. It includes the goal of the class tutors, principles of working and recommendations for the program implementation as well as characterizing the school children of the primary school age, topics for the class tutors, samples and useful resources.
In the framework of Hours for Class Tutors, all tutors will give classes on actual and interesting topics minimum one day a week. Following topics will be discussed: healthy way of life – hygiene, fresh and healthy food, schedule of the day, meaning of sports, danger of bad habits; moral development – relations with peers and grown-ups, etiquette, feeling of patriotism and citizenship – my yard, my school, my country, famous people, important events, traditions, rules and law, taking care of environment and nature, broadening vision – art, meaning of technological and intellectual achievements and etc.
In order to introduce above mentioned program, National Curriculum and Assessment Center held focus-groups for the class tutors of several schools of Tbilisi. They noted, the program is significant and it will be good auxiliary resource in their future activities.
